With help of Infusionsoft support, I was able to transform the checkboxes to a drop-down field. I now use the webform code in combination with the IW4_Con Text widget to get the functionality I wanted.

Bob,

This is why I ask:

As we all know, we should not make the barriers too high for people to fill out forms on our sites. The less fields the better. That is why I only ask for First name, Last Name, email address. But I also want a rudimentary segmentation to get an understanding what type of customer I deal with and to connect action sets (and follow up sequences).

One of the most powerful features of Infusionsoft's web forms (and order forms and cart) is the action sets.

Infusionsoft allows action sets in web forms only through checkboxes or radio buttons. But my list of choices is big, and therefore checkboxes and radio-buttons would take too much space on the website in a quick and small lead cap web form. In my view any form in a sidebar or a widget should collect only a few data and it should not take up too much space.

For that reason, it would be super if the IW4_LeadCap would allow to include a drop down menu with custom fields to which action sets are connected.

This may sound more complicated than it is. If you look at the code that Infusionsoft generates for its web forms you can see that the checkboxes/radio-buttons have the following code:

name="infusion_option_0″ value="523″

I believe that aforementioned functionality in the widget, we would need to be able to set the web form number, the custom field options and the values of those options.

What do you think? Is it feasible to have such an addition to the widget?

Han

PS. We could also join forces and submit a request at ideas.infusionsoft.com for them to allow action sets to be connected to drop down menu options as well.

Han, Eric:

These ideas are good and I would ask both of you to keep them alive and mention them again after infusionWP 3.0 (and WordPress 3.0) is released.

At the moment, there are a few additional features behing worked to close out the current version, after which the plugin will go into "code freeze" as we work on the many changes coming with WordPress 3.0.

Just FYI, WordPress has announced a 2-week delay in releasing 3.0, putting the target date at mid-May.

Best,
Bob

I too would like to customize my LeadCap form.

I'd like to make it more compact: instead of having the field name prompt (e.g. First Name) separate from the field input, I'd have the prompt actually prefilled in the form field, with scripting to automatically blank it out when the visitor clicks or tabs into the field for text entry. This is commonly seen on many web forms, and would make the LeadCap more compact and elegant for use in our sidebar.

I could do the scripting and styling myself however I don't see a way to do this using standard shortcodes. It is my impression that the shortcodes for form submission only work when a visitor is logged in. Am I right about that? If that's the case, then I have to use your widget for lead capture since I can't simply create a form and use the shortcodes to run an action set for the visitor who is signing up.

By the way, on a related topic – I don't see the documentation for widgets anywhere on the new InfusionWP website. Your shortcode documentation is now really easy to use (hooray – thanks!), and the Modules have some explanation, but I don't see anything about the widgets supplied with InfusionWP (such as LeadCap). Please point me in the right direction, or (if I'm right) please add back in the documentation about the widgets.

Thanks!!

I like the idea of using the Iw4_LeadCap widget in the side bar of my website. However, in my lead generation web form, I use one custom field to collect information that I need to segment my list. Can the IW4_LeadCap be changed or tweaked to collect one custom field besides the first/last name and email address?
